vegantarians

A tasty destination for vegetarians with vegan tendencies.

CHEESE.

It’s the one reason I could never be completely vegan. Parmesan Cheese, specifically. I eat pasta with my cheese, and not the other way around.

This is something I’ve really kept in check lately, mostly because I just feel better when my diet is totally dairy free. Which brings me to my very first confession: I’m not vegan or vegetarian for moral reasons. While I completely agree with the ideology, I actually eat vegan because it makes me feel better. Period.

So here at Vegantarians you’ll get loads of delectable vegan recipes that will hopefully do for you what they did for me – make you feel better from the inside out. Of course, there will be a dash of cheese here and there, so for you straight up vegetarians, don’t fret, there’s something here for everyone.

Now a quick word for those of you who are neither vegetarian or vegan, but might be curious about either because you’ve heard of the health benefits.  I was one of you. Second confession: I’m only recently a vegantarian. I’m German, so I was a meat, cheese and potatoes gal all the way!! For years, I struggled with digestion issues (tmi?) and I tried everything in the book. I mean EVERYTHING. Teas, acupuncture, cleanses, the works, and NADA. One day I had a long chat with my girlfriend who’s training to be a medicinal chef. That conversation, coupled with seeing Food.Inc and a purchase of Alicia Silverstone’s ‘The Kind Diet’ book, made me say “Screw it. I’m doing this.” So I did it, and now I feel like I finally found the solution to the problem I’ve been trying to solve for years. And guess what, the transition was a synch, simply because the food tastes SO good, and it’s easy to make. Just try it and see…
